Everyday can be a fresh start if you let it be. It can be a time to get rid of the old stuff and start to do things differently.

I take time each month to review my life. I cleanse and let go of things that no longer serve me. Let’s talk about what you can let go, what you can keep and what’s your next action step.

This week’s topic: Forgiveness

I know I just jumped right in but this is an important topic. Here’s the thing about forgiveness, You don’t forgive for the other person, you forgive for yourself.

One of the reasons we hold onto our anger and resentment towards someone who has wronged us is we think this other person is being hurt by all of the anger we’re holding so tightly. We think, “As long as I’m angry and stewing about _______ they will be miserable and unhappy.”

We think our anger can travel like sound waves over oceans and mountains to the people who have hurt us. Once all that anger reaches them…watch out…they’re down for the count.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that. Your anger is only hurting you. It’s keeping you stuck and it’s keeping you focusing on someone or something that doesn’t deserve your focus and attention.

When we forgive we’re not saying that what that person did was OK, we’re not saying that we weren’t hurt and we’re not agreeing with their actions…we’re forgiving in order to give ourselves peace. So we can be at peace.

Action Step: Is there someone in your life you need to forgive? Take a moment and think about that person and say to yourself, “I forgive you for hurting me. You hurt me not because I’m a bad person but because there is a part of you that doesn’t love yourself. In order for me to love myself I have to forgive.”

Even if you don’t completely believe it — just keep saying it to yourself. You’ll be amazed how your mindset will change.

That’s it for today!!!
